first attempt...

I've started sewing my first garment from a vintage pattern! It is taking a little getting used to with the different method of assembling and smaller seam allowance. I am excited :-)

I found this sweet lightweight fabric on clearance for 1.95/yd! I was so excited! I just love the girlyness of it.

I hadn't realized that before a certain time there were no printed patterns or at least they weren't common I guess. So that was interesting using my first un-printed pattern :-/ Hopefully I will be done tomorrow!

body image...

I bought these two patterns a while back and was very excited to start sewing them.  However I was very dismayed when I read the back of the pattern and realized how incredibly tiny a size 12 was in the 50's!

Haha!  I am actually between a size 16 and 18!!!  That's a HUGE difference!  I can make small alterations to patterns, but this is too large of a difference for me :-(  So, I'm having to consult a fashion design graduate to help me....  Gah, if only I had read the back before!  Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait a little longer....

to begin...

So...

I've decided to try this whole blog thing again...  I did it toward the end of highschool, but decided somewhere along the line that no one wanted to hear my blatherings about myself...  it was all so egocentric...

Anyhoo, I am resolving to not talk about my emotional problems and only post about my new venture in life...  I am striving to do something I have always wanted to do, but was too scared to do.  I am going to dress as if I live in the 1950's all the time.  Now I know that it's not feasible to dress like that all the time, but it is my goal.  So, I guess what I'm saying is that I am going to use this blog to talk about my ventures into this part of my life :-)  And if no one wants to listen, I'm okay with that :-)
